>what is "sixty-six"?

"To fully appreciate the good in life, you must first experience the bad."

In the beginning I wrote here to keep track of ideas that I wanted to archive for future reference. LXVI was a convenient place to keep track of my thoughts and to receive feedback on them. Since 2004, my writing has evolved from curious thoughts, to political and religious ramblings, to the debauchery of a single white male in his 20s, and presently to the thoughts, feelings, and experiences of a citizen-soldier at war.

Back home, I was a graduate student in Psychology. Now, after volunteering for my second deployment in the past two years I am once again an infantryman, but this time I am fighting a war -a very controversial war. If you are looking for my opinion on the war, you are in the wrong place. As long as I don my desert tan boots each morning I will not allow myself to have an opinion on the war. I have a job to do, and that job is not to agree or disagree with the politics of war. My job is to fight the war and come back to tell the story.

My goal here is to accurately report my thoughts, feelings and experiences during my war so that others may learn from what I am going through -and so that father time may not rob me of these memories.

I am not always unbias.

I am not always rational.

But I will tell you exactly how I see it, through my eyes, as it happens on the ground.
